Divorce – Holding back the floods

The recent floods have proved extremely difficult, and to some extent hazardous, for many people. There have been the financial and emotional pressures of the loss of property and the anxiety about what the future holds. In the short term people are anxious about when the storms will end and they will be able to begin to move forward with their lives, and they are deeply anxious about whether more rain will fall before they achieve that position.

In many respects this is very much akin to what happens on the breakdown of a marriage.  People who are divorcing or separating face an unknown future; their assets and financial futures are in jeopardy and there is a lot of emotional fall-out and anxiety; clients wonder when they will be in a position to move forward with their lives.  In some situations it is very difficult to avoid desperately clinging to the wreckage.

What is often surprising is that instead of calling in the experts to help them deal with the situation, people often resort to filling their own sandbags in a desperate attempt to hold back the flood waters.  However, when the inevitable happens and the flood hits, they buy a hand pump – which ends up costing them more in damage and loss than if they had consulted the insurance company or obtained expert help much earlier on.

At Graysons WE we do understand what it is like to be alone in a sea of water with no hope of rescue. If you are facing divorce, separation, or children issues for example, and you don’t know where to turn, we offer a fixed-fee first consultation so that a family law expert can assess the damage and look at all the options available to you.  We offer fixed fee packages and pay as you go advice and we can assist and support you as little or as much as required.  For the bits you feel you can deal with; we can point you in the right direction and in those situations where you feel the flood water is rising too fast; we can come to your rescue and offer you more support and assistance.

Unfortunately, by the time we see people about their divorce or separation, a lot of damage has already been done.  Early intervention is always the best option.  We cannot promise to hold back the flood waters but we can ensure you salvage something from the wreckage in as cost effective and expedient a manner as possible.  Our client feedback is second to none and many of the comments we receive relate to how clients feel when they have handed their situation over to an expert – when they had been floundering.
