Graysons’ 100-Year Legacy Continues with Ashgate Hospice Tree of Life Support

Graysons has supported local families for over a century and is backing a new initiative at Ashgate Hospice designed to create a lasting place of remembrance for generations to come.

Launching the Dragonfly Appeal in 2025 – Peter Clark, managing partner at Graysons and Barbara-Anne Walker, chief executive of Ashgate Hospice.

Graysons is supporting the hospice’s new ‘Tree of Life’ – striking sculpture set within the hospice gardens that will honour loved ones while helping to fund vital care across North Derbyshire.

Rooted in the idea of legacy, remembrance and continuity, the sculpture will feature engraved leaves dedicated to someone special, creating a living tribute that will grow over time and provide a place for reflection and connection.

Having recently marked our 100th anniversary, Graysons has spent a century supporting families through many of life’s most important moments – helping to protect what matters and ensuring that legacies are passed on.

The sponsorship builds on a long-standing partnership between Graysons and Ashgate Hospice, developed over many years through both fundraising and hands-on community involvement.

In 2025, we sponsored Ashgate’s Dragonfly Appeal at Chatsworth House, which raised more than £93,000 and featured over 2,000 handcrafted tributes to loved ones. We have also supported the Butterfly and Forget Me Not appeals, as well as taking part in events such as the Sparkle Night Walk.

Alongside fundraising, we have worked closely with the hospice to provide practical legal support to patients and families, including free wills initiatives that have raised thousands of pounds for the charity.

Peter Clark, managing partner at Graysons, said:

“Our relationship with Ashgate Hospice has developed over many years, and it’s one we value enormously. Whether through major campaigns like the Dragonfly Appeal, taking part in events such as the Sparkle Walk, or supporting families through our legal services, we’ve seen first-hand the difference the hospice makes.

“We are particularly proud to support the launch of the Tree of Life in 2026, which represents not only a new chapter for Ashgate Hospice, but a continuation of the partnership we have built together.”

The Tree of Life will be officially unveiled this Sunday, 12 April, where supporters will have the opportunity to see the sculpture for the first time and find out how they can dedicate a leaf in memory of someone special.
