As part of an overhaul of court fees in England and Wales, the £75 fee that applied to making a domestic violence application to court has been scrapped, and so applications for non-molestation orders and occupation orders are now free of charge.
In scrapping the fee, the government hopes that access to justice for the victims of domestic violence or abuse will be increased. It should be noted that legal aid is still be available in some cases for people who suffer domestic violence.
