The couple were on a rambling holiday, walking along a footpath when the bull attacked.  The woman ran for help, but when paramedics arrived, her husband was dead, having suffered multiple injuries.  The woman herself spent weeks in hospital with fractured ribs and wrist, a ruptured spleen and leg wounds.  She has also suffered psychological damage.

The claim was made against the dairy farmer who owned the bull, and whilst he was cleared of manslaughter, he settled the claim with the widow for an undisclosed, but understood to be substantial, figure.

Our personal injury solicitors who specialised in injuries causes by animals say:

“Animal attacks are not as rare as people imagine, and it is fair to say that most people would think of such attacks being by dogs.  However, these large animals are responsible for some of the most horrific attacks and injuries as you can see if you read the cases of Ben Roberts and Jon Maccoll in which we were able to win substantial compensation for our clients.”

If you have been injured by an animal – whatever type – and would like to find out if you can claim compensation, please contact us to arrange an appointment at which we will discuss your case and advise on the likely success of a claim.
