Starting her legal career as a paralegal dealing with debt recovery in the north east in 2006, Heather realised that her legal future lay in litigation work when starting her training contract in 2008.  She quickly found a particular interest in clinical negligence and has specialised in this field since qualifying as a solicitor in 2010.  Heather says “I have found that I really do enjoy this type of work.  Whilst I am dealing with people at a difficult time in their lives, when they have been the victim of some kind of clinical negligence, I particularly enjoy the fact that, as cases often take up to 18 months to complete, I can build a really good relationship with my clients.  It is great to see the positive effect that a successful result brings at the end of a case and the difference it can make to people’s lives.”

Heather joins Graysons WE from Hepstonstalls in Scunthorpe and brings with her valuable experience in the whole myriad of clinical negligence cases, including, but not exclusively, delay in diagnosis and providing treatment, inappropriate treatment, surgical, GP and nurse error, cosmetic surgery and MRSA.  She has recently dealt with a case where a husband was awarded £140,000 following the death of his wife after a delay in diagnosis.   She has also recently dealt with an MRSA case – notoriously complex – where it seems that MRSA was contracted by several patients from their surgeon and the hospital appears to have been negligent in not acting soon enough to stop the contraction.  This case is ongoing.

Leading a very busy life as a solicitor and part time mum to her partner’s 3 children, Heather does not get a lot of time to enjoy her own pass-times, but when she does, she enjoys playing football and basketball.  She is also lucky enough to have family in Spain and so is able to enjoy her passion for travelling – and brushing up on her language skills at the same time.
