Sarah Wain, a mum who works full time whilst looking after twins who have complex medical conditions, received the award, sponsored by Graysons Solicitors, during a special ceremony held at the SMH Group Stadium.
The annual awards celebrate individuals from across Chesterfield and North Derbyshire who have gone above and beyond to support others and strengthen their local communities.
Representatives from Glass Yard-based Graysons Solicitors were present to congratulate Sarah on her achievement and celebrate the many individuals recognised for their outstanding contributions to society.
Jessica Gamble, a solicitor in Graysons’ property department and who attended the event said:
“It was an incredible night and so lovely to see the local community come together and support and celebrate people who go above and beyond, despite adversities.
“The event opened with a performance from the Georgia Bird Foundation Choir, which was set up for the community after the death of young singer, Georgia Bird, following her struggles with mental health. The choir is aimed at helping 11 – 19-year-olds improve their mental health and well-being.
“We were also lucky enough to see a performance from the multi award winning Westend production ‘Walk Like a Man’, which celebrates the music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.
Peter Clark, managing partner at Graysons said:
“We were delighted to sponsor the Carer of the Year award and would like to offer our sincere congratulations to Sarah on her well-deserved success.
“Caring for others requires patience, compassion and an enormous amount of dedication. Many carers provide invaluable support behind the scenes without seeking recognition, so it is important that their contribution is acknowledged and celebrated.”
The Chesterfield FC Community Awards were launched to recognise local people who have gone above and beyond in supporting others, overcoming adversity, or helping make their communities better places to live.
Graysons has sponsored an award at the event for several years and is a long-standing sponsor of Chesterfield Football Club.
