We stand firmly against unethical marketing
The charter was established recently to highlight, and help eradicate, unethical marketing practices, highlighting some disturbing statistics:
- In 2014 the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICP) received over 180,000 complaints about cold calling.
- A recent Trading Standards study found that 40% of calls received by elderly and potentially vulnerable people were unsolicited.
As one of the inaugural signatories to the charter, which is supported by MPs, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and Motor Accidents Solicitors Society (MASS), Graysons confirms it stands firmly against:
- Nuisance marketing. The firm never makes cold calls or sends spam texts or emails.
- Unethical buying and selling of data. The firm never misuses accident data to put pressure on people to make a claim.
- Inappropriate and misleading advertising. The firm never makes false or misleading promises in advertising to induce personal injury claims and is clear and up-front about costs.
Strong marketing values
Managing partner, and head of our personal injury department, Peter Clark says “We are aware that the personal injury sector is often singled out for criticism with regard to unethical marketing practices, and the public has made it clear that it causes real distress. We have never used inappropriate or misleading advertising and always have our clients’ interests at heart. We will continue to uphold our strong marketing values and have signed the Ethical Marketing Charter to show our commitment to these values and to helping to ensure that bad practices are stamped out.”
