Set against the spectacular backdrop of Longshaw Pastures, near Grindleford, the three-day trials will take place from Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th September, by kind permission of the National Trust. Now in its 128th year, the event attracts many of the country’s leading sheepdog handlers alongside thousands of visitors who come to enjoy one of the Peak District’s best-loved traditions.

As well as world-class sheepdog competition, visitors can enjoy a packed programme featuring the popular Longshaw Fell Race on Saturday morning, trade and craft stalls, hot and cold food, a licensed bar and family-friendly entertainment throughout the weekend.

First held in 1898, the Longshaw Sheepdog Trials have only ever been interrupted by the two World Wars and the 2001 foot and mouth outbreak. Today they remain one of the UK’s most prestigious working sheepdog competitions, showcasing the remarkable partnership between shepherds and their dogs while celebrating the area’s rich agricultural heritage.
