Victims include people making deliveries to someone’s house: post, leaflets or takeaway food, for example, but others, often children, are attacked in the street or whilst walking their own dogs in public areas.

But dogs aren’t he only animal to cause harm to people!

Graysons personal injury experts are specialists in animal claims.  We have successfully represented the victims of misbehaving animals for several years from dog bites, spooked horses throwing their rider and even people encountering a collision with a buffalo and Aberdeen Angus on the highway!

Postmen, those delivering leaflets and others who are bitten on private property are regular clients.  We often have to deal with owners who have an ‘I told you so’ attitude, believing that a sign in the window warning the visitor to ‘beware of the dog’.  Unfortunately we also have to deal with a number of injuries where people are bitten in the street by the regrettably usual suspects: rottweilers and Staffordshire bull terriers.

A case we are currently dealing with is that of someone whose four month old puppy was seemingly fatally savaged by an English bull terrier in Rotherham, and putting herself in harm’s way, she fought off the bull terrier for 20 minutes before the police and ambulance arrived.  Thankfully the puppy was resuscitated and, whilst it had puncture wounds, it made a full recovery.   The lady herself suffered severe physical and psychological injuries as a result of the trauma and we are currently pursuing a claim against the owner of the bull terrier, who is defending it on the grounds that our client was negligent in putting herself in danger to protect her puppy!

Claims against the owners are usually complicated, but often successful if handled by a lawyer who understands this complex area of law, so if you have been a victim of an injury caused by an animal and you want to discuss it with someone who can tell you whether you might have a successful claim for compensation, please contact our personal injury experts and we will discuss the matter with you, free of charge for the first meeting, and let you now what your best next steps should be.
