The man, Mr L, was riding along the road, in daylight, when he signalled that he was going to move to the right into a parking position, which he did. As he was doing so, the defendant turned right in front of Mr L and knocked him off his bike.  Mr L sustained injuries, including pain to his coccyx, bruising to his shoulders and feet and cuts to his left elbow and knees.

Amy claims compensation for man knocked off motorbike

Mr L got in touch with Graysons to see if he could claim compensation for the accident, which he thought was not his fault, and Amy Jo took up his case.  Amy contacted the driver of the car that hit her client, claiming that he had:

  • Driven without due care and attention.
  • Failed to break or steer clear of the bike so as to avoid the collision.
  • Failed to keep any proper lookout.
  • Reversed into Mr L’s stationary vehicle.
  • Failed to indicate his turn.

Liability denied and court proceedings issued

The defendant denied liability for the accident and so Amy issued court proceedings.  The global value of the case was £7,400.  Before the case went to court, however, the defendant agreed to settle the claim at 50% of its value and Mr L was happy with that, receiving £3,700 in compensation.
