ABI confirms increase in small claims value should be for RTAs alone

Last updated on January 11th, 2022 at 09:44 pm

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has confirmed that the increase in the limit on small claims court matters to £5,000 from £1,000, should only apply to road traffic accidents.  It also confirmed that it had saved ‘hundreds of millions’ of pounds since reforms to the personal injury system in 2013.

President of the Law Society, Robert Bourns said:

“Ordinary people who have suffered minor soft tissue injury, including injuries sustained in non-motor accidents, need expert legal help to navigate the court system and understand medical evidence.”
