Compensation after slipping on liquid in nightclub

Personal injury specialist, Tracey Dickinson, has won £6,500 for a client who slipped and broke her wrist at a nightclub.

Ms W was at Rock City in Nottingham when the incident happened.  At about 10.30pm, Ms W returned to the bar area after going to the toilet and she slipped and fell forwards onto her hands.  The floor was wet with what appeared to be spilled drinks, but there were no warning signs and no one was cleaning the spillage up.  Ms W reported the accident to Rock City, but no action was taken.

Tracey takes on case

Feeling that the accident was not her fault, and after suffering pain for some weeks, Ms W contacted Graysons to see if she could claim compensation from Rock City and Tracey took up her case.  Tracey contacted DHP Family Ltd (of which Rock City is a trading company) but it denied responsibility for the accident, saying its housekeeping policy was reasonable.  Tracey issues court proceedings and a trial date was listed in 2017.  Meanwhile, Tracey made an offer to the company to settle the matter for £6,500 and it eventually agreed to pay, accepting that it was at real risk of being unsuccessful in defending the case in court.
