70-year-old Mrs W was walking down the steps outside the arena.  It was dark and there were no lights.  She tripped over the drain grate and fell to the floor, hitting her face, but she did not lose consciousness.  She was aware of pain in her left knee and right wrist and reported the accident to a member of staff at Ice Sheffield.

A friend took Mrs W to A & E at Northern General Hospital where she was xrayed and told that she had fractured her wrist and had soft tissue injury to her knee.  A plaster cast was applied to her wrist and it remained there for six weeks. She underwent physiotherapy when the cast was removed.

Mrs W contacted Graysons to see if she could claim compensation, and Jonathan took up the case.  He contacted Ice Sheffield claiming the accident was caused by its breach of statutory duty.  Liability was admitted and Jonathan was able to negotiate a settlement of £9,034.  The settlement was reached within six months of the accident and Mrs W was very happy with the service received from Jonathan.
