Road traffic accident specialist, Melanie Stringer, has won compensation for two clients within a year of their accident.

road traffic accidentAndrew was driving around a roundabout when the car to the left of him didn’t give way and hit the left-hand side of his car.  Andrew suffered neck, lower back and shoulder injuries from which he is only just recovering and continues to have chiropractic treatment.

Man very “very happy” to receive compensation within 3 months of accident

The defendant driver admitted liability for the accident and Melanie was able to negotiate a settlement of £3,300 within 3 months of the accident.  Andrew says he was “very happy” with the service he received from Melanie and it was “very informative”.

Woman hit from behind

Miss S’ car was hit from behind causing her neck and shoulder pain, lumbar spine pain and travel anxiety which lasted for around 8 months.  She was shocked and shaken at the time of the accident and suffered headaches for around 2 weeks.

Again the defendant driver admitted liability for the accident and Melanie negotiated a settlement of £2450, this time within 9 months of the accident.

New government proposals likely to bring restrictions

When announcing the general election recently, the government abandoned its plans to move soft tissue injury claims of less than £5,000 to the Small Claims Court and pay out on a tariff basis for whiplash claims, starting at £225.  Whilst we don’t know what will happen to these proposals once a new government is formed, it is fairly certain that some sort of reform will happen, and, if it is the same as the original proposals, people in the position of the above clients will not be able to get legal assistance with their claims and will have to take them through court themselves or accept the tariff payment.

We think that the previously proposed changes to road traffic accident compensation claims were unfair and would restrict people’s right to proper redress if they have an accident or injury that was not their fault.  We wait to hear what new proposals will be made, but in the meantime, Graysons will continue to help victims of personal injury claims wherever possible so please do contact our specialist team now if you need help.
